Free Story from Midnight in Rosary

I haven’t talked much about my vampire/werewolf/ghost collection lately. That’s Midnight in Rosary, the title of which the blogosphere helped me decide on. I thought I might post a sample story from the collection, one called “The Poetry of Blood.” It’s not quite vampire. I’m not sure exactly what it is. But it’s short, which I think it needs to be for this sort of thing.

There are erotic elements to the story, and mostly the “threat” of violence. That’s why I didn’t put it up directly as a blog post. If you find those elements distasteful then you may not want to click on my link. If I’ve done my figuring right, however, clicking on This Link should take you to the story. I hope you enjoy.

The book is available at both Amazon and Barnes & Noble, with the links below.

Deka, thanks. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Oceangirl, I really like poetic writing. I love to read it. I think in some ways this piece is a prose poem.

As a fan of your talents I will be sure and make the purchase soon.

Very haunting. I think the minimalist visuals make it that much more appealing, as it allows the reader to focus on the players. The ending was a bit of a shock (in a good way). Had to read that part more than once. I will be buying this collection for my wife. She is really into this kind of thing. :)

Travis Erwin, cool, man.

Tom, I was thinking this sort of collection might appeal to women more than many men. I'd love to hear what she thinks.

Szelsofa, I don't like to spring things on folks too much. Glad you enjoyed the experience.

Laughingwolf, thankee.

Tyhitia, thanks. I'm glad you enjoyed.

Erik, indeed. Time travel ain't all that hard these days.

well done, charles. scary yet reminds strangely reminiscent of a savage love column. very well written.

Charles Gramlich said...

Chris, thanks. I worked quite a while on the prose for this one.

The threat of violence can be more menacing than violence itself. Just waiting... not knowing when it will strike...

Charles, yes, I've read this story in your book... fascinating, like all the others... I've almost finished the book - I read it slowly, to extend the pleasure your writing language gives me, to immerse myself in its poetry...

Charles Gramlich said...

Leigh, absolutely. I agree.

Eric1313, glad you enjoyed.

Vesper, I'm glad you are enjoying the book. Good to hear someone is reading it. :)

This is absolutely gorgeous and dark. Reminds me of how much I enjoy your writing. 'Midnight in Rosary' is on my next order of amazon books, but I've been broke lately and getting library books. Really looking forward to reading the whole collection.

Jodi, I understand being broke, although I'm OK at the moment I've certainly been there before. Glad you enjoyed.
