Movie Monsters Quiz

I had time this weekend to work on a blog post, but I didn't have the will. So, here's another quiz for you. This one is on movie monsters instead of villains. I hope you enjoy.

Can you look at the phrases or quotes on the left and match them with the famous monster on the right? Now this quiz is easy. Anything less than eleven correct and you surely can’t be trying. Evan Lewis said...

12. It's these new guys that give me trouble.

Charles Gramlich said...

Evan, me too.

eric1313 said...

Good ole Cthulhu... the thing that should not be.

As dry as Lovecraft's written works were, his "creation" has certainly lived on to inspire many artists, from literature to heavy metal.

Ty said...

I'm beginning to scare myself. Another list of evil, and once more I knew all the answers.

Charles, if you put up a quiz on the medieval latin names of demons, and I get all of them correct, I'm running to the closest Catholic church and pouring holy water on myself.

David Cranmer said...

I'm with Evan. The classics I know hands down.

Charles Gramlich said...

Eric1313, a mainstay for sure. I kind of like LOvecraft, but more his dream city stories, which are just plain surreal.

Ty, you're making me want to watch you constantly out of the corner of my eye, man!

David Cranmer, those came the easiest when I started making up the list for sure.

Alex J. Cavanaugh said...

Obviously, I watch way too many movies...

Deka Black said...

All! Godzilla, King of the Monsters. I hope. i really hope the USA version for 2012 will be good and not another G.I.N.O. like in 1998

jodi said...

charles, I got 8 which is pretty good considering I've not seen even one of the flicks!

Charles Gramlich said...

Alex J. Cavanaugh, I wasn't going to say anything. ;)

Deka Black, I know, but I won't hold my breath!

jodi, many of these are in the public consciousness by now. They are used in comedy skits, advertisements, and all over the place.

Erik Donald France said...

Missed Pinhead, no relation to Eraserhead nor the Ramones song "I Don't Wanna Be A Pinhead," I guess! Never saw any of the Hellraiser flicks.

nephite blood spartan heart said...

I got all of these, even with having only seen Hellraiser once a very long time ago.

Travis Cody said...

I'm shocked. I got all 15. But I got the last 3 by process of elimination...does that still count?

eric1313 said...

Dream City stories, ehhh? I'll have to check that out for certain.

Thanks for the mention of it, always up for new reading.

ArtSparker said...

Fun Quiz, I got most of them.

Charles Gramlich said...

Erik Donald France, the first one was quite good, the others not as much. But the villain/monster was pretty interesting, I thought.

David J. West, Pinhead was huge for a while but you don't hear much about him now.

Travis Cody, it does. That's good test taking skills!

eric1313, The dream quest of Unknown Kadath. Very surrealistic. Some of it is really prose poetry.

ArtSparker, good job. Glad you enjoyed.

AvDB said...

Fifteen right. I'm glad you included Pinhead. He doesn't get nearly enough respect. Anyone who can sneer, "I'll tear your soul apart," is okay in my book.

SQT said...

I think I know three... Okay, maybe not that bad. But I don't watch horror much. Love "Silence of the Lambs" though.

Lana Gramlich said...

This one was a bit tougher. You're good at coming up with these, hon!

the walking man said...

OK I can claim a six on this one because I had a little chiantisthstshstsh

BernardL said...

Four wrong again... rats! :)

Charles Gramlich said...

AvDB, yeah, I liked that line a lot from old Pinny. Great dialogue there, if you ask me.

SQT, some of these aren't really what I call horror. King Kong and Godzilla are more SF eh?

Lana Gramlich, tankee sweets.

Mark, I hear the gnashing of teeth.

BernardL, still a pretty good score

Heff said...

Got ten. A SLIGHT improvement.

Charles Gramlich said...

Heff, I'm working on a metal quiz!

Educational and fun!

You would be thoroughly disgusted with me if you knew how few of these I knew.

The first movie monster that I ever saw was King Kong. He was monstrous but not terribly scary. Now Jaws? I didn't want to get in the water for a long time after I saw that movie. Doesn't matter that the only water around was a bathtub, Jaws was just too plausible and hungry.

Charles Gramlich said...

Cloudia, thankee.

Jennifer, me too. Jaws scared the you know what out of me.

ivan said...

Do you like movie monsters? Hey, everyone does, don’t they?

Well, yes, monsters are fascinating if not scary, but
I am out of my depth.
Can't offer any intelligent comment.
How abot a stupid one?

I am reduced lately to watching brilliant, zany movies like Airplane with Leslie Nielsen.
He goes (as the doctor in the crewless plane about to come to grief),

"Do you like gladiator movies, Billy? Have you ever seen a man naked?" LOL

laughingwolf said...

all great, even if memory fades! :O lol

Scott said...

Another great quiz, which I aced, naturally. :) The subject matter is my forte, though.

Charles Gramlich said...

Ivan, my favorite line from that movie is "Don't call me surely." Nielsen was a comic genius for sure.

Laughingwolf, indeed. Classics.

Scott, I imagined no less. I will have a tough metal quiz coming up before too long.

Jodi MacArthur said...

Fun monstery stuff! I did better this time. Ok, my fav villian/monster quote of all time is from the 1931 flick of Frankenstein "He's Alive!" But I'm not sure who is more monstrous- Dr. Frankenstein or his 'abomination'.

I wish the one eyed one horned flying purple people eater had a movie quote.

Charles Gramlich said...

Jodi, yeah, the "it's alive!" was delivered with such glee and conviction. Gotta love it.

Akasha Savage. said...

13. Yay! :D

Mary Witzl said...

Sigh... I got 5.

I need a serious dose of monster review, don't I?

Charles Gramlich said...

Akasha, very good. You know your classic horror.

Mary Witzl, well, maybe some homework! :)

Jo said...

I only got one right.

The scariest movie I ever saw was "War of the Worlds" with Gene Barry. I slept with my light on for weeks, after seeing those alien space ships, and the horrible creatures in them. I still remember the sound they made.

Charles Gramlich said...

Jo, I liked that movie very much myself.

Danette Haworth said...

Only three. Hmph.
