Saints in the Superbowl

Most folks probably know the outcome already but I can't help but talk about it. For the first time in their HISTORY, the Saints won the NFC Championship and are going to the Super Bowl. They had to beat the Vikings with a field goal in overtime to do it.

The Vikings played a hell of a game and outplayed the Saints in yardage gained. But they suffered with turnovers, both interceptions and fumbles. Some were sloppy ball handling but the Saints defense caused a few of them as well.

One thing the Saints did well was pressure and hit Bret Favre all night long. He took a beating and you know he's a tough guy to be able to walk after that one. Neither team gave up on this one. They fought until the end.

Brees had more time to throw but he and his receivers didn't connect as easily as in the past. The Saints offense definitely wasn't hitting on all cylinders. The Saints also got more than their usual share of penalties. I thought there were a few bad calls against the Saints, but we also got a couple of calls that went for us as well so I figure it leveled out pretty well.

Overall, I'm just very proud of the team and they way they fought through this year. As people have been saying, this ain't yo mamma's Saints. I'm not even thinking about the Super Bowl. Not yet!

If tonight's game is any indication, you'd better get tranquilizers for the Super Bowl.

Would you believe it?
We got the game all the way up here in Toronto and Hamilton, Ontario. I am no great football fan, but it was either ENTERTAIMENT TONIGHT (which wasn't very), or football.
Inched my way into a pleasant few hours.

Congratulations to those Saints. It sounds like they're marching in.

I'm really not interested in this, or any other, game but I wanted to drop by and say "hi, how are you?"

It was a good game and i thought about you, wondering how much of your hair you pulled out during the last quarter and OT!

Go Saints. No, wait a minute, maybe I should root for the Colts, as another beleagured Midwestern City. No, go Saints. Who deserves it more than NO.

"They fought until the end"
Hmmm, sounds like my revisions.

Lana, If the Saints win in a blow out I'll be OK.

Ivan, Cool. Glad you got to be a part of that history.

Jack, The Saints are coming.

Gaston studios, I'm pretty good at the moment! :)

Sage, I couldn't sit still during the entire last quarter and OT. Was up moving around and around.

Pattinase, if deservings got anything to do with it then the Saints should certainly win.

Bernita, yes, the revisions fight back!

We'll be hanging with the Saints. Manning and the Colts already have a Super Bowl.

I was at my finacee's father's house this weekend and I actually saw parts of the game. I normally don't watch football, but since it was his birthday, we were indulging him by watching with him. It wasn't half bad.

Charles, I actually watched the game and bragged that I had a "friend" who is a big Saint's fan! What a rush!

Hey Charles,

I saw this one -- a real nailbiter!!!! God, I felt awful for BF, but glad your guys won!

Randy Johnson, I'd root for Manning and the Colts against anyone else. But not the Saints for sure.

laughingwolf, They are a little cocky, though not as bad as the Patriots have been.

Candy, she had to listen to me screaming.

Voidwalker, it was a downright scary game from my POV.

jodi, indeed it was. I'm still floating today.

Cloudia, Hu RAH

Steve Malley, yes, it's so good to see the Saints become a class team.

Michelle, they beat Bret up pretty bad. But he's had an amazing carreer and will always be a legend.

It was an awesome game! We couldn't help but cringe for Favre. Man did he ever take a beating.

For the first time that I can remember, we are REALLY looking forward to the Super Bowl for the football and not just the commercials! :)

Very happy for you, Charles!! My husband was rooting for them, too. I know you guys are due. To put it mildly. :)

What is this super bowl thing you're talking about? Can I find one in Detroit?

Congratulations! Now get plenty of rest and drink lots of fluids over the next couple of weeks to prepare for the big day. And take the Monday after the Super Bowl off, no matter how the game ends.

Good luck!

There's a lot to be proud of -- and right on w/your game assessment. It came down to one play: if Favre had been less beat up, he might have run that last play of regular time, and the Vikes might've tried a field goal and won -- or missed and ended the same way. Either way, congratulations on a hard fought game and go Saints, representing the whole NFC in the Super Bowl -- you guys deserve the win~!

Charles Gramlich said...

jennifer, Yes, I felt some of Favre's bruises myself, although not as much I'm sure. I hope it's a good game.

Sarah Hina, yes, that is an understatement. :)

Mark, I don't think it goes through Detroit. At least not lately. But then, this is the first year they've put a lane in that goes to New Orleans.

Travis, yes, I need to do some training for sure!

Erik, I'm glad the Saints have two weeks to get ready because they are bound to be bruised up as well.

congrats to the Saints! they deserve to be in the big game.

Mark (The Walking Man):

In Hamilton, Ontario, where U.S. Steel has closed the mill down (sound like Detroit?) the new shibboleth is "Bowling for Welfare."
Winners get first month's welfare cheque gratis.
Now there's Bowl.

Charles Gramlich said...

Greg, thanks. I'm glad to see it.

Ivan, that's very sad.

Gee, are you a Saints fan, Charles? ;)

I'm happy for their fans. I don't watch football, so I didn't know. But it's nice to see an 'underdog' team wipe the faces of the other team in the dirt. Especially in overtime.

Tyhitia Green said...

Congratulations, Charles. Good for your team. I don't watch sports so I'm lost. My husband, brother, and Dad try to get me to watch but I just can't. LOL.

I'm so happy for your Saints. The only thing that would have been sweeter would have been if they ran up the score...twice ;)

Charles Gramlich said...

writtenwyrdd, just a teeny bit, as you can tell. It's a hobby of mine. :)

Demon Hunter, there's lots of stuff I can't watch either!

L.A. Mitchell, lol. Not a fan of the Favre/vikings eh?
