Charles Gramlich Versus Charles Allen Gramlich: Grudge Match

I just realized that Amazon has a Charles Allen Gramlich Author Page, and a Charles Gramlich Author page. The Charles Allen Gramlich (CAG) page has 21 listings for books, the Charles Gramlich (CG) page has 19. They have slightly different addresses, and different numbers of “likes.” The CG page has 3 likes and the CAG has 7. The CG page has a picture of me, though, so that probably explains why it has fewer likes. I guess I can understand that. Pretty, I’m not.

The CG page has the link to my blog posts and is generally more comprehensive. It actually includes all my books, while the CAG page has multiple listings for some books based on either ebook or print format. I guess I must have updated both of these in the past without realizing they were different. Has anyone else seen this kind of thing for a writer? Two different author pages with slight differences?

Anyway, I’m going to put up the links to both pages below, and will have to see if the number of “likes” change. Will Charles Gramlich or his alter ego Charles Allen Gramlich win?  Is the picture on the Charles Gramlich page the turn-off it appears to be? Inquiring minds want to know.

I should go look at mine. It is possible there is a Patti Abbott and a Patricia Abbott. Can't remember.

That's too funny you ended up with two profiles! I believe I only have one. Now I need to check...

You can compete with yourself :) Nice.

Charles-most surely the Charles Gramlich with the pic. I always flip to a book jacket to see a pic of the author. It's such a personal touch and I can feel like they are truly sharing themselves with me! P.S. You are kinda pretty!

Well, I don't have a social media account to sign in with, so consider me liking both. :)

Patti, might ought to check it out.

Alex, Don't know how I did.

Brian, Charles Allen Gramlich will certainly figh tdirty.

Keith, lol, indeed.

Lauren, I might be able to beat myself.

Jodi, you must be drunk.

Riot Kitty, cool!

You just sent every author to Amazon to check their pages. :)
To confuse you further...I'm going to go like both your pages. Note: When I've searched your books in the past I never used your middle name.

It is amazing how Amazon juggles data including names, not to mention how it toys with cover art and user posted images on titles.

The simple explanation is that you're obviously twice as good as other writers! One author page can't hold him!

Charles Gramlich said...

Aimless, I don't know how both got there. Probably because I have books published both ways. Very weird, though. Thanks for the likes!

Sidney, and trying to get something corrected is a pain. I'm almost afraid to tell them about my two pages for fear of losing both.

Richard, lol. I think I'll take your explanation. It somehow makes me feel better. :)

The CG wins, hands down.

Oscar, he's behind so far!

Charles, I've read both your profiles on Amazon though I admit I didn't notice the difference in the names. What if you combine the two and make one comprehensive profile with titles of all your books and blog post? I'd go with Charles Allen Gramlich: he sounds more like the author and professor that you are. Besides, I'm partial to middle names.

Charles Gramlich said...

Prashant, I will probably make an attempt to do that at some point. I'm scared, though, because I've found it pretty difficult to get Amazon to correct such things and I could end up getting both of them deleted. I've heard some horror stories. But when I get a moment I will look into it.

Do you have two listings in the Amazon's Author Central too? That could get tricky with payments.

Richard said...

How weird. Can't you / they combine them or something?

Charles Gramlich said...

Bernard, I better check that. I don't think so, though.

Richard, I will try to get them combined.

Hm. Amazon has me listed, though I did not go to them...Never applied.

Maybe it was because of all that complication... Or maybe I'm just well into senility and can't cross my t's and dot my i's any more. :)

Ivan, weird things happen in this online world.

I've always supported Charles Allen Gramlich. Not sure about that other dude.

Charles Gramlich said...

David, perhaps wise of you. :)

Redundancy doesn't hurt, especially in case of alien air attack.

Erik, yes, I agree

"Pretty, I’m not."

I think you should put up a blog photo in which we can actually see you, and then let us vote, maybe on scale of one to ten.
