Tropical Storm/Hurricane Isaac

Well, we started classes today, Monday, but now classes are cancelled for the next two days. I wouldn't bet on us being back on Thursday either.  It's because of Tropical Storm Isaac, which is drawing a bead on us in southern Louisiana. I doubt it's gonna be a dangerous storm but Lana and I are going to evacuate because we will probably lose power and I don't want Lana laying around in the heat for a few days while they try to get the AC back on. Although we'll take our laptop with us, who knows when we'll be back online.I'll update when I can. It just never seems there's a chance to focus on one problem at a time. It always has to come in multiples.

Later.

Charles, I agree, problems always come in bundles most of which one can handle with relative ease. I hope the storm passes over soon and Lana and you return to your normal life back home. Do storms in the US always lead to power outages?

That old cliche 'better safe than sorry' still works.

Stay dry, safe and cool during the coming week. I hope nothing bad happens to you or the home you're leaving behind for a while. Certainly, you're making the right choice. Which direction will you be going?

Stay safe!

I hope the hurricane/storm doesn't do too much damage.

Find that nice little AC and wifi motel, and relax. It's an unexpected vacation - except for that part about possible wide-spread destruction and whatnot.

Hope the best for you both.

When I was a Mississippian, I lived 100 miles inland, and hurricanes were an enjoyable break from the summer heat. I first saw what one could do when I went to Biloxi after Camille to help a man salvage his vacation home. Everywhere it's something. Here, we're waiting for a point nine earthquake that now 50 years overdue according to when the last tidal waves hit and buried coastal forests.

First things first: Hope Lana and you are well and safe. that's the most important thing right now.

Second, i hope the battery of your laptop last long ;)

Good luck Charles, hope the storm passes through quietly and you can get back on with life.

Prashant, me too.

Keith, the big problem will be electricity going out.

Cloudia, thanks!

Bernard, indeed.

Alex, thanks.

Golden Eagle, will try.

Richard R., I worry about the house for sure. I hate leaving it alone. All my books.

eric1313, I hope to do a little reading but there are usually many little details to deal with as well.

Snowbrush, let's hope that earthquake delays another 50 years.

Laughingwolf, indeed.

Ty, so far so good.

Deka, I'm charging the battery now.

Greg, we hope so for sure.

Geez. What next?

I'm really pulling for your safe passage through the literal storm and the alegorical one (Lana's health). You're in my thoughts, definitely.

Have fun this upcoming semester.

BTW, I've never read any of the Kane series, so I'm not familiar with Wagner. But am I wrong in noting a resemblance between you two?

Be safe, Charles. I was in your area the last time one passed through and I know first hand the destruction they can cause.

Safe travels--it doesn't look like it is a killer storm, but the power failures almost always happen. Make the best of your time away!

Thinking of you and Lana, Charles. Hope things settle down soon.

X-dell, Karl did have a background in psychology too, though more in the psychiatric side. We had a number of similarities indeed.

Erik, thanks man.

David Cranmer, I just wish it would move on through. it seems to be paused.

Sage, I wish I could write better at such times but I tend to worry too much.

Don, thankee. We appreciate that.

The Big Easy has become hard, and no matter how we'd like to wish it away, it seems from here that there is nothing we can do.

stay dry, warm, fed and well slept, you two

worry about damages when it's over - nothing can be done til then, except hope it's all minor

Jessica Ferguson said...

Hope you two are safe and that Lana is doing okay.

Charles Gramlich said...

Ivan, they spent billions making sure it wouldn't wash away.

Laughingwolf, so far we're managing.

Jess, thanks. We are. I wish she'd be doing better of course.

Well, today is Friday. Hope you are back at work and Lana is fine, assuming you were out of the heavily flooded areas.

Oscar, they cancelled school until this coming Tuesday, but we got back in the house Saturday so I'll be able to go.

Elaine Ash, thanks. Much appreciated.

David Cranmer, I appreciate that, man. We'll keep it in mind. Thanks.
