Now this was really creative, Charles! Clever, clever, clever! Do you remember the Twilight Zone episode where the writer creates real people from the character sketches he dreams up and types on the page? One of my favorites.

i have fights with my characters, but they always win... it is THEIR story, after all ;) lol
Any time a character of mine starts to get a little cheeky, I remind them that I can easily inflict all kinds of gruesome things on them, or write them out completely.
Shhhh...they haven't caught on yet to the fact that they are important and the story doesn't work without them.

I wanted to respond to something you said in a previous post but forgot which one it was. You said you'd given up hope that you would ever make your living as a writer. But I think you're too young to give up. You've got another 40 to 60 years ahead of you. I know people who didn't start making good money at writing until they retired and could put more energy and time into it.

Raymond Chandler was fifty before he published the Big Sleep. You just need to keep plugging away and get a lucky break. I still say the market is saturated with High Fantasy and its ready for a Sword and Planet renaissance.
BTW - I ordered my copy of "Swords of Talera" two weeks ago and I'm still waiting :-( Serves me right for being miserly and picking the cheapest partner on Amazon.co.uk!

Miladysa, Jask really grew across the course of that book. He was originally going to be only a very minor character. I hope the book gets there in time.
Bernita, you should definitely run with the idea. Let's see what your "characters" are saying. I think Rannon is irritated because I spy on all her and Ruenn's more intimate scenes. It's a hazard of the job.
