March, You Suck!

Been a very rough month at work. Grading, mentoring students, and committee work. I'm also teaching the Writing in Psychology class, which is by far the heaviest work-load of any of my classes. I've only taken 2 days completely off during March. My mood hasn't been the best either, and though I almost never have trouble sleeping, I've had that problem for much of the last week.

Thank goodness we've now made it to Spring Break. I'll be off next week, except for dealing with the research committee and getting tests ready for the week after. Still, I'll have some time to relax and I've been pleading for it like a beaten boxer pleads for the bell to ring closure on the last round. We are going to have to see about getting Lana a different car as well, though. Hers has broken down three times in the last three weeks, and that has added to the stress.

I've written nothing except one unfinished scene about a boxer. I haven't submitted anything from the stuff I have done, and haven't even cleaned out my emails for over a month. I've missed my writing group three of the four weeks in March. I've been a pretty bad blogger for most of March as well. I've not posted very often and have had to simply mark all posts as read a few times in Feedly because I didn't have the energy to go through blogs. I should be able to start making rounds again, and I'm hoping to get some stories sent out as well as, maybe, write some new stuff.

This morning the sun is shining and its nice and cool outside. I'm going to start my day with a walk. Outside, oh how I've missed you!

  2. During that week off, take one day with no commitments, nothing you have to do, and no place you have to be. Enjoy it with Lana.

  4. Greg, I can't imagine it'll involve more work. And that will be nice.

    Alex, yes indeed.

Ty, me too. I think it will be.

  5. Charles, maybe you and Lana need a vacation where you could enjoy the outdoors, and read and write some. I dread April-May on account of the notorious Indian summer.

  6. Yep. Sometimes it's hard as hell to imagine better times... except in fiction. :)

  7. Prashant, over here those months are among our best. For us it is July August that is the hottest and stickiest.

Bernard, yeah, even a zombie apocalypse might be preferable. :)

  8. Ambien is really good for rare sleepless nights, but I've had a lot of sleeping pills by now, and it's true what they say about how they can leave you worse off than before if you overuse them, and it's real easy to overuse them.

On Wednesday, April will be here, and if I wasn't an atheist, I'd be praying that you'll find it easier than March, but as it is, I can but wish you the best.

  10. Charles,

I agree with Alex. Just veg out one day and spend it with Lana. Have fun and enjoy it!

I know the weekend I got away, I enjoyed a restaurant that appeared on a tv show called Dives, Diners, and Drive-ins. Lol. Red velvet cobbler is something everyone should try! :)

  11. Snowbrush, I don't ever take anything for insomnia. I usually don't have it for very long.

    Oscar, thumbs up!

Tyhitia, red velvet cobbler sounds divine.

  12. Hang in there--at least you have this week off. March has been busy for me too, but partly it's my own doing.

  13. I saw lana's post about her car--buy a low mileage used certified that still has a manufacturers warranty + another year offered by the dealer. Do not lease. Interest rates are less than 1% so buy something good, but not to blinged out. The more bling the more computers it has, the more computers it has the more trouble it can brew. AND get the carfax!

    then rest it's only money.

I imagine writing in psychology is pretty difficult because there is a whole new dictionary that has to be learned by the kids.

OK I finally had a dream, dream. two friends and I were bopping around town in a garbage truck, we wound up hopping the truck over the freeway rail and landing on an even grass surface, which gave way as we all said "whew that was close" I woke up as we hit the rocky bottom but still laughing.

  17. Sage, it's often a bit of my own doing. I take on stuff I'd like to do, even if I know it is liable to overwhelm me.

    Mark, see, dreams are fun!

Lisa, I love days like that.

Tyhitia, I go it. that looks obscenely delicious.

  19. Jodi, it does help. Sometimes when the work overwhelms it's hard to do though.
