School started Wednesday and I've been doing 12 hour days. No chance to visit blogs and tomorrow is not likely to be any different. I should be around for a visit this weekend and sometime next week should be getting back to a somewhat normal routine.
Part of the reason for the long hours is that Xavier experienced a nice enrollment increase and our department had one of the biggest increases of all. Great to see after a few years of falling enrollments. Certainly increases our work load, though.
Later.

Sorry about the long days, but the bigger enrollment means more job security.
Higher enrolment is good news, Charles. But is there a reason why there is a demand for psychology?
Hang in there! Is your school (like the school where I formerly worked until I threw in the towel a few weeks ago) renewing/intensifying its focus on recruitment and retention, which means that latter translates in plain English to pressure for grade inflation and fewer failures? In any case, I hope you have an intellectually and professionally rewarding semester.
Alex, and that is nice
Prashant, I think in part because it is a fun field. Plus, students like stuff that applies to them and much of psychology does
R. T., there has definitely been pressure over time for that but as a private institution I think we've been able to hold it at bay better than some public institutions have
You're off to a rousing start, Charles. Good luck!
We certainly understand and glad to hear about your enrollment increase.
Oscar, thankee
Sage, yes, that was good news university wide.
Eep! More work, but everyone is right - this will be a good thing in the long run. Hopefully there will be a few smart ones ;)
