My post today is just a referral to Moonrat's incredible post on the issue of publishing "rights." Moonrat is an editor and knows of what she speaks. I found this post very helpful and think that any writer, published or new, would do well to check it out. I'm bookmarking it myself for further study.
Have a good 'un.

Has anyone told you today that you're a cutiepie?
Yes. Charles, you're a cutiepie.
:-)
You also swolled my brain up against the sides of my skull with that article -- still on my first cup of coffee....
Lana, you are a discerning woman so I guess I'll just have to agree with your judgement.
Steve Malley, I know, I had to read it twice myself before I understood it. AS for being cute, I've learned never to argue very long with Lana.
Lordy, that's a lot to take on an empty brain.
Hey cutie pie. Sorry couldn't resist. Thanks for the link. A good link is just as good as a post especially when it is that informative.
I think Steve Malley sums it up -
not the cutiepie bit -
but the brain swelling...
;)
Confession: I read the first paragraph and then bookmarked it in a folder that I've named "We Shall See".
As a big fat newbie still trying to figure out how to complete a sentence, this is definitely in the "for future reference" category for me, but I like saving these all because if and when the day comes -- I'll be glad I did.
Recovering editorial assistant -- love it!
Good stuff, esp.: "You HAVE to be your own advocate here . . ."
Yeah, but can he spell? :)
Who am I to pass judgement? :-)
I presume your speech went well this afternoon, Charles.
MoonDear is often helpful and often quite wonderful.
Thanks for the referral! Lots of good points. I'm woefully uninformed about the business end of anything. I blame it on being a writer, but I need to get less ignorant. It's on my list this year . . .
SQT, Overload! Overload!
Travis Erwin, does your wife know that you think I'm cute? Lol.
Miladysa, maybe if my brain swells it will reach adequate size.
Lisa, I, too, like to keep this kind of thing around for reference. Not for when I'm writing but for when the writing is done.
Erik, yes, I think the advice is spot on, although not always so easy to follow.
Ivan, it went pretty good. I'm going to post about it today.
Bernita, I agree. I like to hear from a professional in the field.
Michelle, I'd prefer it if the concept of business and selling stuff never entered into the equation. Writing is hard enough, but then to have to sell and finangle and so on is truly hell.
Moonrat always offers some wonderful insight! :*) And so do you!
