Good interview. I think a lot of people get into some genres because of availability as much as anything else. I'd always read kids' books as a kid -- the kind you bought from the Scholastic Books pamphlet that came through your school once a month -- but one of the first non-kid genres I started reading was historical romances. My mom had hundreds of them around the house, and when I was twelve I asked if I could read one. She said yes, and I've been a romance fan since, although my interest has moved around different subgenres.
Interesting about Parker. I didn't know he'd written any westerns.
