One Hit Wonders: The Rockers

This will probably be my last post about music for a while. Below are some of my favorite rock songs by bands that really only had one song I liked. I know that several of the bands featured below had longer careers and put out plenty of other music, but these are certainly their biggest hits. And they are the only songs by these bands that I listen to. I'm actually rather sheepish about "My Sharona," and yet I do like it. It's certainly the closest thing to pop music I've included on my lists.

Charles, I listen to a lot of music and I have something to look forward to this weekend. Thanks for all your music posts. I've made a note of it all.

Just glancing through all 5 posts the only one I own is the U2. Guess that is what I get for not preferring the Beatles or The Stones but The Who instead.

Living Colour did have other hits, like Glamor Boys, but none as explosive as that first one. They've produced a lot of albums over the years. (And were recently on That Metal Show.)

Only familiar with the last one.

Interesting one hit wonders list.

Brian, definitely. The Head east song is the most meaningful to me and the strongest. I actually saw them in concert and did like some of their other stuff as well.

Prashant, thanks. Hope you enjoy.

Mark, I'm not a huge Who fan. Prefer the Stones generally.

Alex, I saw that Metal Show episode. Most of their music was what I'd call Funk and it really doesn't do anything for me.

Patti, wow, you didn't listen to radio much. at least not rock radio.

Bernard, thankee, man.

Red Rider! That's awesome. I didn't know they had any footprint in the States at all. They're a home-town band for me and Lunatic Fringe has always been a favorite but for slightly poppier but equally intense song check out:

Why be sheepish? That song is awesome!

I loved Living Color.

Frank, I hadn't heard that one. Nice. I enjoyed it. Lunatic fringe was all over the airwaves here when it came out but you never heard anything else of theirs.

Riot Kitty, My Sharona now seems soooooo pop musicy to me, but I can't deny liking it.

I strongly beg to differ about classifying Living Colour as a one hit wonder.

Off the same c.d. Vivid you had "Open Letter To A Landlord", "Funny Vibe" and "Glamour Boys".

Ram Jam was created by the former lead guitarist for the bubbled gum pop band Lemon Drops, and the problem they encountered was censorship by the radio stations over the content of the song.

The Knack had one really good album, but as a power pop band they were about as good as they were going to get.

CCSU Blue Devils still use Lunatic Fringe as their entrance song for the men's b-ball team.

G. B., as I said, I know several of these bands had plenty more music. I just didn't like anything else off the Living Color album. That's why I subtitled it "the rockers."

Charles-in the movie 'Blow', Johnny Depp walks thru the airport in that white suit to 'Black Betty'-it is absolutely epic!

Haha, fun list. Did you have a "Nuke the Knack" movement in your zone?

I was slyly partial to their "Good Girls Don't."
