Heavy Metal Versus Hard Rock: Part 2:

Here are metal songs 6 through 10 for me. Ty pointed out that his list would change with his mood and that is true of me as well. This is my current  list. It might not be the same next year. And there are certainly plenty of songs at 11 on that might move up given the right circumstances. However, these ten songs sure do show up for me a lot when I click on you tube to listen to something I like. Next up will be Hard Rock songs, which was a harder list for me to make.

6. Slayer: South of Heaven:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XtLvlaGJJEU

7. Hallow’s Eve: Lethal Tendencies: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F9fHYdyOb1A

8. Judas Priest: Love Bites: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KRp5z2B6Zl4

9. Scorpions: China White: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FloeC2HnNYo

Judith Priest?

I've actually heard of Hallow's Eve music and that's some pretty decent music from that decade.

Judas Priest! Nice.

Brian, I've got most of the Slayer albums. Some heavy, heavy stuff.

G. B. oops, did I misspell?

Alex, definitely. They've got a lot of good songs. I had a hard time picking just one.

Lots of slow burners. Even the Slayer track takes the top off ones head at its own ease. I just wanted to say I found myself on a plane a few years ago seated next to Paul Allender (I think that's his last name), the guitarist from Cradle of Filth, and he talked about how he was revisiting Judas Priest. And I'm pretty sure it was "Defenders of the Faith" he said he was doing his housework to. Never my favorite album but now after listening to Love Bites I feel like I need to go back to it.

Frank, thanks for dropping by. I've always liked best what I call the Doom and Gloom metal. Heavy, ponderous, like the slow roll of massive thunder. I like some of the fast stuff too but the slow burners as you say are my favorites.

Wow, I haven't thought about Slayer for quite awhile. Really liked them back in the day.

Not much of a metal fan. Am looking forward to your ideas on hard rock.

Riot kitty, I haven't bought a Slayer record in a while but I do have quite a few older ones.

Richard, coming up. :)

Medicine Man by Pantera is probably my favorite song by them, just for the shear variates of heavy that they delve into on that song and on the rest of the Cowboys From Hell CD. Primal Concret Sledge is heavy as all hell too.

I was a bigger fan of the CoC/Pantera project Down than of Pantera in general, though. But they had some songs I liked, nice and heavy with crunching guitars and drums. Got to give a shout out to them too.

Charles-Now you've lost me. My son loves Slayer!

eric1313, I saw Pantera in concert down here. Good stuff. I like a lot of their material. Probably wouldn't rank most of it as highest on my list but definitely solid.

Jodi, your son is wise! :)

Charles, I've enjoyed listening to Scorpions, mostly some of their popular songs like "No One Like You," "Still Loving You," and "Winds of Change." I don't think I've heard "China White" yet. Nor anything by Slayer.

Charles, I've always enjoyed the Scorpions. Been awhile. Think I will follow the link. Which means I'll be in YouTube land for the next hour or so.

Prashant, China white is off of Blackout, which is a fairly early Scorps record. It's also long and never got any radio play.

David Cranmer, enjoy. I tried btw, to comment on the Max Brand post but five tries couldn't get me through. I think I probably had to register but didn't have a chance to do that.
