Lana's 2nd chemo treatment is tomorrow. Her first seems to have worked wonders on the cancer site, which has shrunk dramatically. The doctor told us today that he wanted to start radiation therapy in about 2 weeks and, hopefully, that will knock this thing out. The radiation treatment will be a major pain in the ass, with her needing to go five days a week for treatment, for six weeks. The treatments themselves will be short but it's a little less than a 2 hour round trip for us. But if that is going to do it then it's a tiny price to pay.
Man, Charles;
ReplyDeleteStayin' somewhere sweet near there might could be a much better idea (when you really think about it).
Less wear and tear on the artiste!
I know she's in good hands.
Tomorrow I revisit the future and salute Uncle Ray (Bradbury). Did he inspire you? Too mainstream?
Best wishes & Aloha from Waikiki,
Comfort Spiral

Glad to hear tings are progressing in the right direction.
ReplyDeleteCloudia, we were thinking about that. May give it a try. Yes, Bradbury was a huge influence on me.
ReplyDeleteKeith, yes it's definitely good news.
That's a relief, Charles. I hope the to-and-fro trips aren't a strain on you both. All the best to Lana.
ReplyDeleteCharles, my thoughts and prayers with you guys. Lana can kick this!
ReplyDeleteAll the best to you both right now.
ReplyDeleteMy best wishes are with both you and Lana. Very glad to hear thing are going well.
ReplyDeletePrashant, it's manageable at least.
ReplyDeleteTy, thanks,
David J., we appreciate it.
Deka, much appreciated.
paying prices is spending time...seems like a worthwhile price to pay spending time to me.
ReplyDeleteCan't put a price on life.
ReplyDeleteStill praying for both of you.
That is positive news and my prayers and hope are with you both. Stay Strong!
ReplyDeleteGlad Lana's body is responding in a progressive way.
ReplyDeleteKeeping y'all in mind.
great news! let's hope the radiation treatments are the last thing she needs to kick that crab!
ReplyDeletei have a ton on bradbury posted on my fb page... including 11 of his shorts, with ray narrating; they run about 24 minutes, each...
I missed the part where she would have to go through radiation treatment too. That is like a living horror story. I'm glad the first part is working. At least you can both approach the second phase in a more confident manner because of the success so far. The drive... :(
ReplyDeleteI hope the radiation treatment does take care of it. All the best to both of you!
ReplyDeleteThat's a rough gig. Good luck and salud to you both slogging through this.
ReplyDeleteSounds like things are taking a good turn. Hang in - libel to be a long couple of weeks, but keep that good news coming.
ReplyDeleteThinking about you guys.
Don
Praying for Lana. I think of you both every day and hate it so much that Lana is having to experience this. There just aren't any adequate words ...
ReplyDeleteSounds good. Cloudia's idea might work. Having seen what my sister and a friend experience with radiation treatments, the less stress the better.
ReplyDeleteHope yesterday went well. Two hours round trip sounds exhausting. I am thinking about you both.
ReplyDeleteMark, indeed so.
ReplyDeleteAlex, thank you.
Sean, we appreciate it.
Paul, I was certainly worried. Still am but am feeling somewhat better
Laughingwolf, I hope so. Cool on the Bradbury. I’ll check that out. I’m a huge fan of his of course.
Bernard, They sort of sprung that on us. We had heard nothing about Radiation therapy until the one day at the Doctor’s office when he said he wanted to get it started. Maybe they didn’t want us to deal with too much at once but they should have told us earlier.
The Golden Eagle, thank you.
Erik Donald France, Lana is pretty tough and this kind of treatment ain’t for the faint of heart.
Issa's Untidy Hut, I’ll definitely keep things updated. Appreciate the good thoughts.
Jess * Jessie * Jessy, We appreciate the thoughts. That helps us keep going.
Randy, yeah, we’ve been trying to maintain a pretty quiet life these days. Will have to see what we can come up with to ease the commute issues.
Patti, She had more reaction to this chemo than the first but still not a horrible response so far. The steroids they give with it wouldn’t let her sleep last night, though.
Still got the both of you in my prayers, and I'm glad to hear that things are more than working out in your favor.
ReplyDeleteRooting for you and Lana.
ReplyDeleteProgress.
...So glad to hear that all that cancer research wasn't for nothing.
Glad the first treatment went well. Hang in there, you too. You're in our thoughts and prayers.
ReplyDeleteG.B., so are we for sure.
ReplyDeleteIvan, it seems like it's paying off now. I'm glad for all those researchers.
Sage, it's a good thing when you can look forward with some hope.
Yeah, I always thought my radiation treatments were a PITA too. The treatment itself was fine and never made me ill, although I did get a few slight burns. The inconvenience of having to go every day for weeks was annoying.
ReplyDeleteSo good to hear about the successful first round of chemo! Good luck with the second one!
ReplyDeleteI second Cloudia's suggestion. On the other hand, your own home may be what offers more comfort.
Hang in there, you guys!
ReplyDeleteContinued prayers and support for both of you. It sounds like she is in excellent care with lots of support. Keep us posted.
ReplyDeleteTravis Cody, thanks for sharing that, man. We are hoping for a good outcome.
ReplyDeleteMerisi, we'll probably play that by ear, whether we stay at home or look for a closer place for a a short period.
Rachel, thank you.
Mimi, thanks. we both appreciate it.
