ReplyDeleteLoved the book and here is mine. I never had a drink until I was 48 and in France. Now I have one everyday. I am glad I didn't start earlier. And I just learned to drink beer this year. A revelation.
ReplyDeleteLike Sage, I was a latecomer to beer. I had that same revelation about the hard stuff and went that direction.
ReplyDeleteI think I was twenty-seven before I ever drank a beer and never indulged that much.
I could tell some stories about liquor, especially tequila and vodka.
Mine? A hell of do almost nothing thaks to aincredible headache!

Randy, I'd listen to those stories, man. I've got a couple of vodka stories for sure.
Deka, I used to never get head aches. I do a bit more these days.
Thanks for the link, Charles. I got quite a chuckle out of the review and article. I've drank my share or Kirin beer in Japan, even going through the factory and drinking it free. Hell, beer is beer. Rolling rock was good. Then there was all the popular beers, PBR, Falstaff, Bud, Coors, what have you. I think the worst tasting was the French beer, couldn't take much of that. I drank a lot of Scotch, too, Glen Fiddich, Glen Livet, Johnnie Walker Red or Black, White Horse, and a whole lot of Cutty Sark, and a fair amount of wine, cognac, and rum. If I could remember half of the high times, it would fill a big book.
ReplyDeleteOscar, therein you have the issue when writing such a book, remembering what went on. That's probably why most of mine is about my 'younger' days, when I had a memory.

I enjoyed reading Sage's review of DAYS OF BEER, especially the part about too much beer having too many consequences (I thought only hard liquor did that), as well as his own days of beer. So many beer brands. I wonder how many stories have been told, deals struck, fights broken out...over a (harmless?) glass of beer. I suppose people everywhere will have their own unique beer story to tell.

My first thought on "Musing of Days of Beer, (from an old wino), was, "Geez, I spill more than you guys can drink."
