The announcement I'd hoped to make last Friday was that I'd finally gotten Killing Trail uploaded to Barnes & Noble for the Nook. Alas, that still hasn't happened. They claim to be having some trouble verifying my account identity, which has now got me all worried that someone has stolen it. So, what I'd hoped to be something good has not turned out so well. I'll give it a few more days, see if anything happens. If not I'll have to cancel the upload.
The only other thing I have worth mentioning is that I watched the movie Shoot 'Em Up tonight. In it, a man gets involved in trying to save a pregnant woman from a hit man and ends up delivering the baby. The mother is killed and now the guy has to take care of the baby himself while an army of hit men try to kill it. He enlists the aid of a lactating prostitute. And the resulting body count is higher than Commando or Rambo. This had to be the most over-the-top movie I've ever watched, and I loved every minute of it. Totally ridiculous but very well done. I laughed my keister off as one ridiculous but intriguing scene piled on another. I recommend it.

Bummer about the B&N hassles. :( The only good side of it I can think of is that if someone did hijack your account, at least you'll find out about it.
ReplyDeleteWhatever the issue is, I hope it clears up RSN. [crossed fingers]
Angie
I've been wanting to see that.
ReplyDeleteAnd while I'm still personally low-tech with regards to book reading-I do want to read Killing Trail sometime soon.
OUCH! Hope your issue with barnes & Noble fix soon :(
ReplyDeleteAbout the movie... is one my friends recommend to me precisely for the same reasosns you do. Must have something.
I love a good mindless action flick every once in awhile. And best of luck on the TRAIL upload. I'm working on publishing my own Cash and Miles eBook in the next few days. (Btw I used TRAIL as an example of the quality I was shooting for.)
ReplyDeleteSorry about the Nook, that is a concern. Notice any unusual activity on any of your accounts?
ReplyDeleteThat movie actually sounds like something that in a few years could be a pop cult hit.
Sorry to hear about the problems. Maybe that wil come together.
ReplyDeleteI saw Shoot "Em Up listed somewhere and remembered it coming out and that I'd never seen it. I need to check it out.
Good luck with the Nook issue.
ReplyDeleteWhen I started watching 'Shoot 'Em Up', I didn't know it was cleverly a parody of violent action movies. The marketing almost gave no hint of that.
So, like you, I was wonderously surprised and laughed my arse off at the over-the-top gags. Loved it.
Did anyone suggest you start another account so that you can finally upload the book to the Nook? Oh, I'm a poet and didn't know it, lol.
ReplyDeleteSorry you're having troubles!
ReplyDeleteShoot Em Up was gritty but unique, I'll give it that.
Sounds like the movie was an antidote for the nook problems...
ReplyDeleteMy experience with Shoot 'em Up was the exact same as yours. For something along the same lines, check out the Korean flick The Good The Bad The Weird. It is ridiculous fun; it's basically a Western, and an utter blast of mayhem.
ReplyDeletei hear folk with b&n probs all the time, mostly with book orders... hope you resolve yours!
ReplyDeleteflick sounds like a good time-waster... kinda like bruce willis' 'last man standing'....
Angie, me too. I'm not a fan of hassle.
ReplyDeleteDavid J. West, I've had several nook owners ask me to put it up there so that's why I was trying. Guess I'll know soon.
Deka, it was a pretty darn good movie.
David Cranmer, thanks for the compliment, man. I appreciate it.
Mark, I could see the movie becoming a cult fave.
Sidney, I think you'd like it. Just don't engage your mind too much.
Paul, I haven't laughed so much at a movie in a long time.
Gaston STudio, so far they say they have sent it to their accounts dept for processing. I'll wait to hear from them, I guess.
Alex, unique is a good word for it.
Ron, and a good antidote it was.
Chris, I've heard of that one. I'll definitely check it out. This one was so much fun.
Laughingwolf, I liked Last Man Standing very well. Good action flick. This one is more over the top than that one though.
I sure hope it's not an ID theft.
ReplyDeleteHope you get it uploaded. more people need to read that one, IMHO. :)
ReplyDeleteShoot em' up was awesome. Totally agreed on that one. :)
I still wanna kindle my book...
ReplyDeleteAmazing how you accomplish SO much, Charles.
Good delineation of an enjoyable if not masterpiece film.
Guilty pleasures are necessary!
Aloha from Waikiki :)

BernardL, You and me both. Me even more.
ReplyDeleteTom Doolan, thanks. I appreciate that.
Cloudia, kindling turned out not to be too hard.
Sorry to hear about the upload problems. I'm wondering how long it will take for B&N will work out the identity issue, or if they'll leave it to you to sort it out.
ReplyDeleteThe thought of someone else stealing my identity and collecting my royalties doesn't appeal to me either.
On a lighter note, Shoot 'em Up seems like it's right down your alley--mine too.
Shoot 'em Up sounds fun!
ReplyDeleteJust the description of the movie sounds ridiculous and very appealing! The movie Raising Arizona may be the goofiest movie I've watched but I adore it.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry about the delay with Barnes and Noble. I really hope it works out for you soon.
This new world is frustrating and exciting in equal turns.
ReplyDeleteOf all the wacky plot lines, "...the guy has to take care of the baby himself while an army of hit men try to kill it", has got to be one of the wackiest.
ReplyDeleteTough break about the upload. I hope you can get it squared away.
Any news on the ID problem? I'm sure everything's okay...
ReplyDeleteWell. That sucks.
ReplyDeleteI hope for the best and that its just the typical woops we can't seem to find you type issues. Good vibes your way. Glad the fun movie helped. ;-) Looking forward to the book
X. Dell, they promised they'd email me when they had things resolved. Guess we'll see. I won't wait too long.
ReplyDeleteOscar, that's a good word for it.
jennifer, this one is even goofier than Raising Arizona, but not quite in the same way.
pattinase, yes indeed.
Travis Cody, Even more, he actually 'delivers' the baby while fighting off some assassins.
Lana Gramlich, silence so far.
Jodi MacArthur, thankee. I appreciate it.
Sorry to hear you're having trouble uploading your book. I hope the problems go away!
ReplyDeletegolden Eagle. thanks. Me too for sure.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your upload and that all goes well!
ReplyDeleteI rented it once, but never got to see it. Was just thinking about it the other day. LOL. Will have to make sure I see it.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with Barnes and Noble. I hope all your effort pays off.
ReplyDeleteI think I'll pass on the movie. Glad you enjoyed it. Actually I am pretty sure I saw some it. Hubby enjoyed it. I baked cookies.
I too am awaiting B&N so perhaps the problem is on their end.
ReplyDeleteMerisi, thankee.
ReplyDeleteTyhitia Green, I enjoyed.
Carole, I would have enjoyed the cookies too! :)
Travis Erwin, I wouldn't be surprised. Not at all.
