Movie Day at Novel Spaces

I'm posting about movies over at Novel Spaces today. Sorry I haven't been around to blogs this weekend much. Lana and I spent Saturday shopping for cars and going to the Northlake Nature Preserve. (I’m considering replacing my car, which has 107,000 miles on it.) On Sunday we took a day trip to Mississippi to see “Red Bluff,” sometimes called the Little Grand Canyon. It was awesome. Check out Lana’s blog for details.

I’ll start visiting blogs again this evening, but with almost 200 in my queue I doubt I’ll get around to them all. In the meantime, I hope you’ll stop by Novel Spaces, and I’ll leave you with a pic Lana took at Northlake. I think it’s a Sasquatch footprint and I’m sticking with that.

  1. I fear is not a Bigfoot track. Is the foot of my neighbour in the second floor. he's a very screaming man.

  2. DUDE! 100,000 miles on your car is just barely broken in. You can double that before it needs replacement and if you take decently good care of it the body will fall off before the power train fails.

  3. Left a comment on your movie reviews Charles as I'm in total agreement with you about your favorites.

Also, agree with Mark about the 107,000 miles which my car is coming up on soon. I'm keeping it until it falls apart as it's in great mechanical condition. I'm thinking, however, of getting one of those tag signs that says: "Don't laugh, it's paid for!"

  4. With your commute you need a ride you have complete confidence in. On the picture... I'm with you... it's Bigfoot. :)

  5. Deka, hum, that could well be.

Mark, oh the car is running fine, but there is actually another issue that is making me think about a new car.

Gaston studios, Thanks my friend. As for the car, I'm bit bothered by how fast it burns through tires.

Bernardl, I agree on both counts of course.

  6. Will visit Novel Spaces!

And you can't hit 200 blogs in one day?
Just kidding. I max out around 100.

  7. Alex, sometimes I skip over a bunch. I just can't always keep up.

  8. I only visit daily a little bunch of blogs. is a hobby after all. Not a vice. And i want to keep a loved hobby.

But if i hear "ey, the blogger at (insert name of the blog) have great stuff today!" I pay a visit.

  9. Deka, sometimes I forget it's a hobby and it seems like work. But most of the time I enjoy it.

  10. Love the sasquatch pic. ;) That's cool.

Get the new car, even though they don't make 'em like they used to.

  11. I'd like to think it's a sasquatch footrpint, for the sake of more mystery and wonder in the world.

  12. Over 100k miles eh? I'm only at about 78k on my Liberty, but I've had it since Dec 2002 and I'm ready for a change.

Not until next year for me, though.

  13. Dang, you should have been at Conclave 35! I did a presentation on Bigfoot hunting.

  14. Hey Charles,

You're driving a DETROIT car! Be proud man! I'm close to that mark with Snowflake and I think he has at least ten good years .. .

  15. Demon Hunter, sure wish I'd seen him and not just his prints. but he might have been eaten by the 7 foot gator we saw the same day.

David J. West, me too. I love the thought of such mysteries.

Travis Cody, I bought mine in 06 with about 20,000 on it but have driven it hard. And commuting back and forth across the 24 mile bridge I really need a very reliable car.

Rick, would have enjoyed that for sure.

Michelle, the new Scions have regular size tires, which I think will make a difference on a number of fronts, and somewhat better gas milage. I put 80,000 on mine in 4 years.

  16. Charles, 200 blogs?! I am very honored to have your support whenever you can stop by. I commented on your movies favs and I love the pic. Makes me want to go up north and walk in the woods.

  17. 200 in the queue? Man, I feel privileged you make it to mine at all!

  18. Jodi, I've made a lot of friends online it seems.

SQT, that was about two days worth. hard to keep up at times.

  19. It's nearing time for me to think about another car too... I shudder at the thought. :)

  20. Charles,

    You got so much going.
Publishing, teaching; deft, well received article on movies over in Novel Spaces.
    I'm wondering how you relax.

    But you teach psychology, no?

I'm getting kinda busy here as well.

    I find success a stressor.
And then having to make up your mind about buying a new car.

I myself have no greater therapist than the late (very late) singer and writer, Leadbelly.

So when I get stressed, I either put on the CD or play it myself, viz,

    Lyric. Relax your mind.
    Artist: Leadbelly

    Relax your mind
    Relax your mind
Ooh, it'll make you live a great long time
Sometimes you've got to relax your mind.

    When the light turns green
Ooh push down on your gasoline
One time you've got to relax your mind.

    When the light turns red
Ooh, shove your brakes down to the bed,
One time you've got to relax your mind.

    Relax your mind,
    Relax your mind,
Oh it'll make you feel so fine some times,
Sometimes you've got to relax your mind.

When you're driving in your automobile,
Ooh, keep your eyes down through that windshield.
That's the time you've got to relax your mind.

Well, my own Psych degree is really from an old MD of the Rain Forest, but I'll betcha you're relaxed right now. :)

  21. Cars? Plural? That means you're gonna buy more than one? And after only 107,000 miles on the old one? Hell, I've gone longer than that between oil changes.

Apparently, the latest book is doing well?

  22. Big print indeed!

Congrats on caring for your car so well.

  23. Charles...

I'd be interested in getting your old car, but I'm sure you want better trade in value than what I would be able to muster.

Good call on the sasquatch footprint. That's exactly what I would think... errrr... I would know.

  24. Steve Malley, yeah, it's not convenient. I decided to keep mine another year.

ivan, thanks. I needed that. I don't relax my mind enough. I seem to be worrying all the time. I don't like it but it's a hard habit to break.

    X. Dell, no, I was only looking at 1 but I decided to hold off at least another year. Maybe the book will do better by then!

Cloudia, thankee. I do take care of it pretty well.

eric1313, I ended up deciding to keep it. I like it alot and it still runs very well. Agreed on Bigfoot.

  25. Charles, i don't know if works for you, but me, for relaxing often i watch old cartoons

  26. YES! I think it is a Bigfoot track. Heading to Lana's blog and Novel Spaces now.

    ReplyDelete
  27. It's not the Bigfoot impression that amazes me; it's the 200 blogs in your queue. I'm having difficulty keeping up with twenty.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Deka, that does bring back some nostalgic feeling for me as well.

    Jennifer, thanks, I appreciate that.

JR., that's 200 blog posts. Some people have multiple posts a day but I usually only comment on one or two of those multiples.
