A Quiz about Villains

I don't seem to have anything to say new today so here is a quiz I wrote for The Illuminata back some years ago now. The answers are at bottom. Hope you enjoy.

They're big. They're bad. Mostly they're ugly. Who are they? They're the movie villains of our nightmares and they're here to...GET YOU!. Can you match the descriptive phrase or quote on the left with the evildoer on the right? Zero to five correct means you may be too innocent for your own good. Six to ten correct and you are exhibiting just the right amount of nastiness. More than ten correct? Be afraid. Be very afraid.

1. Spider hater ---------------------- Jason Voorhies
2. Danger, Will Robinson! ------------- The Joker
3. Dream blade ----------------------- Thulsa Doom
4. Deep Breather --------------------- Leatherface
5. Camp Nightmare -------------------- The Penguin
6. What a big eye you have ------------ Darth Vader
7. Holidays can be killers ------------ Roy Batty
8. Permanent smile ------------------- Randall Flagg
9. Snake magic ----------------------- Lex Luthor
10. Buzz Cut ------------------------- Freddy Krueger
11. Umbrella fella ------------------- Green Goblin
12. The Dark Man --------------------- Khan
13. Kryptonite lover ----------------- Michael Myers
14. I spit my last breath at thee! ---- Dr. Smith
15. Made man ------------------------- Sauron

  2. um... i only got 9 of em :O lol

  3. I got all 15 of them. Should I warn my wife?

And Flagg's probably my favorite from the list. The books Flagg, not the TV movie version. SPOILER: Though I felt King punked out in the end with Flagg. Such potential wasted.

  4. Sidney, the dark man indeed.

Laughingwolf, tha's purty good old son.

Ty, I'm guessing your wife already knows. :)

  5. Oh man, I only got a few of them. But this was fun!

And you know I'm having trouble finding things to blog about these days too. Maybe I'm in a funk?

  6. Totally out of my element here. I can only identify a couple.

  7. I did poorly on this one :-(
Do u use this when grading Your students?

  8. Ello, I'm definitely in a funk today.

Annalys, not this one. I'd like to teach a class in this kind of thing one day perhaps.

Evan, could just mean you have better things to do than watch TV/movies.

  9. I got nine correct, but after reading the answers, I feel I SHOULD have gotten more.

That was fun, dude. You need to do stuff like this more often.

  10. Lucky 13, I mixed up Roy Batty and Leatherface (because I'm not terribly familiar with either)

  11. Randall Flagg... i met him for the firsttime in Eyes of the Dragon. I thinked: "This guy is really EVIL". Why? because he does not have a cat, or a toad, or even a bat as familar, like most bad guys who also are wizards.

Nooo. He has a parrot with tw heads! brrr. Weird, ugly, twisted, monstruous...

I mean... how can not by evil? Bats, toads, cats.. are nice animals!

Anyway, One of the most evil villains ever created in my opinion.

  12. Ello,

I reviewed my own book in a redneck blog.
Wow. It was like the Blues Brothers doin rock'n'roll in a country bar. Good thing there was a shield for the flung beerbottles and detrius.
Need some blog ideas? I'll bring one of those rednecks over, they'll drink everything in your house, wreck the furniture and violate you dog.
The worst part is that I had to be sort of nice to them. Got sixty comments on the review, though there were certainly lots of rotten tomatoes and flung Heintz and beer bottles.

  14. Heff, I've got a few more of these kinds of things that I'll run over the next couple of weeks. Glad you enjoyed.

David J. West,it had been so long since I wrote it that at first I couldn't remember myself who Roy Batty was.

Deka Black, yes, he was a neat villain. I met him first in the Stand and didn't care as much for him in Eyes of the Dragon, but he's pretty cool.

ivan, I loved that part of that movie, and especially when they started playing the theme from Rawhide.

Cloudia, at least your pretty much out of range!

  15. 13. Lucky score, eh?

    ReplyDelete
  16. In The Stand is even worse... He has followers!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Oh God. I'm not too innocent for my own good, I'm too ignorant. I need to read more stuff featuring famous villains.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I suggest you begin with some Victorian era classic.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Can I pretend to know all of these? LOL. Maybe one? I have a hard time remembering quotes, esp bad guys quotes. Actually, I have a hard time remembering much of anything. (gulp) ;-)

  20. Steve Malley, a fine score indeed.

Deka Black, yes, I liked the sections where he recruited his followers. I've got some quizzes about old horror books that I'll run at some point.

Mary Witzl, I love me some villains.

  21. Jodi, only the "Shadow" knows.

  22. I think I need to get to bed. I missed Sauron of all of them. Jeez...maybe senility is setting in.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Charles,

Fun quiz! I managed to get 'em all, somehow.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I only got a few of them too, but that was fun!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Randy Johnson, I'm sure some sleep will clear up your "eyes."

Scott, I imagine you could write a quiz about horror movies that I'd score 0 on.

Gaston Studio, glad you enjoyed. Thanks.

  26. I didn't know too many of the villans (maybe I better not look in the mirror!)

    ReplyDelete
  27. Sage, perhaps so. Villains don't know "other" villains perhaps?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Very entertaining quiz. I went too fast and only got eleven. :)

    ReplyDelete
  29. Funny. Khan still brings a chuckle -- soft Corinthian leather gone wild . . . I'm somewhere in the middle here . . .

    ReplyDelete
  30. Hell I didn't even recognize all the villains. Danger will Robinson though was always from the robot not Dr. Smith. The old lady has that show dvr'd. Flagg i knew but couldn't match so if you give half points I scored about a 4.

I sleep dreamless anyway so i have no fear of them coming to get me, they'd find themselves like I do crawling out of a black hole every morning when I do wake up.

  31. Good quiz, baby. I got quite a few, but had to think about it.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Erik, I will never forget those commercials either. you've seen the "most interseting man in the world" ads? He's doing the same riff.

Mark, the phrase was just spose to evoke the movie where the villain appeared. Hell I'll give you half points for showing up. We all know you've got a bit of villain in you somewhere. :)

    Lana thankee.

  33. unfortunately I only got six. No good.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I got 10 out of 15. Oddly enough, I got some of the horror ones. I guess Freddy Kreuger and Michael Myers are that well ensconced into the popular consciousness.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Carol, nothing to be ashamed of!

Travis Cody, and they play those movies all the time.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Who'd have thunk that there is a quiz where I would have a worse score than on technical exams? ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  37. Merisi, hum, I guess there are folks who watch fewer movies than I do.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Aw, poor Dr. Smith. He was just trying to cope...

    ReplyDelete
  39. I have to disagree with Ty, no flies on Jamey Sheridan...

    ReplyDelete
  40. Oh wait, he was the Lord of Flies, wan;t he?

    Okay, I'll be quiet now...

    ReplyDelete
  41. I did slightly better with this one. I want to introduce my daughter's to the character Randall Flagg around Halloween. The book is a little too much for them at this point (a shame) but the movie would be good enough for now.

    I LOVED The Stand.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Artsparker, yes, Dr. Smith was a tortured genius. An interesting character.

Jennifer, I thought the movie/mini series, whatever it was of the STand was really good. The book was a bit saggy in the middle, I thought.
