Interview

The first part of a two part interview with me is up over at Richard Prosch's Meridian Bridge. Thanks, Rich. I always like getting a chance to yak about writing. These were great questions and I had fun with them.

Heading into New Orleans today to check on some things at work. I have about two weeks of summer left before school starts. I love my job, don't get me wrong, but I sure have been enjoying my time away as well. Once school starts everyone will see me online and on the blogs quite a bit less frequently. I won't be able to make nearly as many comments as I have been doing this summer. I imagine the blogosphere will survive.

In those two weeks I want to put the finishing touches on a collection of my vampire stories, which is just about done, and then I want to take a few days off to do absolutely nothing but read and eat and sleep. Even though I've been off "work," I haven't been off writing and I've had a very productive summer. I do need some vegging time, though.

  1. I don't know how I would have blogged during the school year while I was teaching. That you come online at all is cool in and of itself.

  3. Interesting interview, Charles. That's neat that one of your Western characters is from the same clan as your Talera characters. If you're coming into town today, does that mean we'll see you at the meeting?

  4. Good interview. And surprised about the family tree you have done.

  5. I liked finding out more about the shared history of characters-I love it when storytellers do that.

  6. Sorry the Summer's almost over, baby. I hope you've enjoyed your time off, anyway.
LOVE the flaming squirrel. They should all be flaming, I think.

  7. Charles, do your students follow your blog? If so, what do they make of it, and what kind of response do you get from them?

  8. Charles, take the rest you need. I will miss your comments, so stop by when you can. I love it how your students are your top concern.

  14. David Cranmer, thankee. I'm glad.

X-Dell, Last year I would spend the first half hour blogging when I got to school, but I've got so many more blog buddies over the summer.

Laughingwlf, lol. Lana feels that way about squirrels too.

Candy, I was planning on it but after the crazy afternoon I had I was just so tired I finally had to just go home. One day back in New Orleans at Xavier and my blood presssure is through the roof.

Deka, glad you enjoyed. I like my Maclangs.

David J. West, it has been cool how it's developed over the years.

Lana, you are a sweety, except to squirrels.

Ron, the typical student these days is completely uninterested in anything their teachers do outside of class. I've never had one comment about the blog or apparently even notice its existence. Some do know about my writing but only the rare student shows any interest in it.

jodi, I’ll be getting around, just much slower and somewhat less frequent than now.

Erik Donald France, thanks, dude. I’ll have to post about my tiring experience trying to go to work today!

Leigh Russell, I know, writing and talking about it seem to go hand in hand. Glad you stopped by the interview.

Richard Prosch, I’m glad you got some folks to check out the interview. It was great fun.

sage, thanks man. I’m looking forward to some vegging.

  16. Interesting interview. Thanks for the link.

Your novel The Bear Paw Valley reminded me of the first novel I wrote back when I was 19, The Storm. It's horror in an 80s Stephen King sort of way. Maybe I'll get back to it some day, but I'm thinking it'd be easier to start from scratch.

  17. Travis Cody, 3 of my very favorite things.

Ty, I've borrowed scenes from "The Bear Paw Valley" but I don't think it works well enough as a novel to truly rescue.
