This is the cover for Beat to a Pulp’s first print publication, which is soon to be published. Some of you have seen it already but I think it’s pretty cool. I’m looking forward to this collection.

I spent yesterday (Thursday) with my son, which is why I didn’t make my normal blogging rounds. We ate some sushi and had a nice walk. We shot the B-B gun some and played a bit of Red Dead Redemption, the video game he bought me for Father’s Day. “Redemption” is a western themed game and I’m having a lot of fun with it. I have ceased to be a law-abiding citizen within the confines of the game, however. Perhaps this should trouble me more than it does.
Today, (Friday), we’re having some tropical weather and net access is spotty at best. I’ve been unable to get around to just about any sites so that’s where things stand. It took half an hour of refreshing and working one window at a time to get the this post up.

Redemption! I only hear good things about the game. The plot happens in 1910. For a western seems very late.
ReplyDeleteWyrdd. is funny what you said about a zombie boxer. in a spanish edition of the EC horo comics, i remember very well a story featuring just that: a zombie boxer.

ReplyDeleteDeka, yeah, I was troubled by the late date but it is clearly set actually much earlier. I think they did the 1910 thing so they could get in some advanced technology.
Laughingwolf, It took me a bit but finally something came to me for the contest.
I've seen that game. Looks like fun. I still haven't finished Arkham Asylum.

1910 was really the end of the "old west" as far as mining was concern. A lot of the mining in Southern Nevada took place in the first decade of the century--and Goldfield is often considered the last great gold rush in America. It'd be interested in how the story fits history, for that's an interesting era (in my opinion) as you had radical labor groups and the stock speculation was taken to new heights and Nevada began to experiement in other things like boxing and divorce.

ReplyDeleteSage, The clothing and set up all look more like the 1880s or early 1890s, but there are some technology advancments beyond that time. They have phones, for example, and primitive automobiles.
Ty, I've already stolen a couple of horses. In life I'm a pretty good guy so in video game I suppose I can break a few rules.
Writtenwyrd might be onto something. Zombie boxers might be pretty cool, if they were fast-zombies. (Actually, if that's the case, they should probably be cage fighters)

I like the cover. It reminds me of pulp fiction covers I've seen from the 1930's and 40's.
ReplyDeleteSteve Malley, I read a story once, maybe in Book of the Dead, about zombie girl cage fighters in Mexico. It was purty cool. I played about five hours yesterday.

ReplyDeleteI have no lofty aspirations for my Raiders...I'll settle for 7-9, be thrilled with 8-8, be surprised by 9-7, and be giddy if we manage 10-6 and challenge for a playoff spot.
Baby steps...I'm taking one game at a time and really just hoping to be competitive.
Travis cody, the Raiders are my second favorite team. I think they made a good decision getting rid of that quarterback from LSU.

Julia, thanks for dropping by. I decided last night to play and save two different games, one as a good guy, one a bad guy. Both are fun but it's easier to be bad.
