  2. Oh Charles!!!!

I feel your pain! Take it easy and remember to rest your eyes and your brain in regular intervals!

  5. Wave robotic arms resembling dryer vent hose in frantic up and down manner.

Collapse on side, wheels on feet spinning.

Howl danger will robinson! in fading voice...

  6. See, I felt your pain! Now that I'm all recovered, I must observe that life as a professor involves a lot of freaking time outside the office. Do you also do clinical research besides doing the articles, the boards you belong on and etc.?

  7. Far beneath the ship,
    the world is mourning.
    They don't realize
    he's alive.
    No one understands,
    but Major Tom sees.

    this is my home,
    I'm coming home."

  11. Feel Better, Charles:
The "anti-logical" content of my blog today might soothe you . . . pretty pictures!

  13. I wish I could give my students a final; that in itself would be a beginning. For some reason, cons always thinking they're smarter than they actually are.

  14. I empathize.

Somebody else gets this way too?

Happened to me one December when I was not only overloaded with work, but had to face a hostile class which would simply not do the assignments.
They already had their B.A.'s and who is a teaching master to tell them what to do?
Had to give most of them a DNW...Did Not Write. And they didn't.
Tough row to hoe in the vinyard.
But looking back, I should have given them F's.
It was the Christmas when I would become a full-time prof.
    I just walked away.

Hang in there, Brother! have a beer (or several), listen to something relaxing (like Motorhead or Manowar), and chill for a bit.

  20. I find singing little songs to be helpful when I'm stressed.

Something like, "let's chainsaw the computer and shave the boss' head," is one of my favorite little ditties.

I'm sure you could think of something similar.

  32. Nothing a long nap and a wee dram of a good single malt can't cure!

    A wee dram...now that's something I haven't even smelled in months!

Enjoy your break when it comes!

  34. I must say that, as a student, I never thought of the end of the semester from the prof's perspective. Ah, the life of a self-centered student!
