Desk Tag Screen Shot

Steve tagged me for a meme that requires you to post a screen shot of your desktop. I noted the tag while at work and couldn't, for the life of me, remember what image I had on my home desktop. When I got home I found out why. I have no image on my desktop, and thus I surely win for most boring desktop in the blogosphere. But to paraphrase a quote from The Matrix, I don't even see the desktop anymore. I just see Talera, Thanos, the woods of Northwest Arkansas.

As for the icons, most are probably self explanatory. "BlackHate" represents a fantasy novel that I started working on but have put on the back burner because of some non-fiction projects. "Wanders" is a horror novel that has also gone on the back burner. "REHUPA" is stuff for the Robert E. Howard group that I'm a member of. "IRB" stands for Internal Review Board and is a committee that I'm chair of at Xavier. "Learntex" holds the files for the textbook review I mentioned the other day, which I just finished and will send off first of next week.

I'm behind in blogging because work has truly hit the fan at school and I am completely swamped with too many items to list here. It's one of those times when you just try to keep swimming even though you know the shore is a long way off.

Everyone take care.

  2. I think this is the first desktop screenshot I've ever seen that doesn't have any games on it. [blinkblink] I suppose they might be hiding in your HD, but even so, I'm impressed. :D

  3. I'm keeping it in mind, Mark.

Angie, once in a while I'll play Free cell. The only computer type game I play much is old Age of Empires. But I'm trying to cut back. I don't like to waste a lot of time on computer games when I could be reading.

  6. That image is actually quite calming.

Speaking of reading, I'm not doing much of that these days. I need to fix that soon - I miss reading.

  7. I can sympathize with you keeping your head barely above water -- I'm there myself. Keep on swimming!

  8. No games on mine either.
Remember to float now and then.

  9. I've been doing most of my reading online for the last few years, with just a few realspace books per month. I'm getting back to "the hard stuff" but I think I'll always do a lot of reading online. You find niche fiction here that doesn't show up in hardcopy publications.

I don't think I could go completely without my games. [duck] Although I've cut down quite a bit lately.

  11. Lana, I have you, why would I need a robot friend. You're much more flexible. ;)

Travis, I can hear the sharks swimming behind me. I think they're just toying with me at the moment.

Travis, I just finished Lansdale's "The Bottoms." It was pretty good if you like horror.

Lisa, I wish I'd taken more swimming lessons.

Bernita, but what about the sharks that are right behind me?

Angie, I still haven't developed the online reading habit, although I do read some stuff that way. I still like the portability of a book.

Ello, work is a four letter word.

  12. Good luck swimming, Charles. Why does the beginning of the semester always hit with such a slam? And I only experience it secondhand.

  14. Hey Charles,

Mine is just as boring because I can't figure out how to do anything. I did manage a Sopranos screensaver, though. Where there's a will . . .
