I guess you can't pull of a "surprise" on your readers if you're not very convincing about it. I mean you'd have to be really good at it to keep the reader engrossed till the end. Over the years I've come to expect an element of "surprise" from certain authors and it's always there, waiting to spring up on me.Prashant C.
