For me, reading fiction is a lot about pleasure. Maybe not totally. nonfiction is different. I just slogged through 800 pages of a comparative text. Not that much fun.

Patti, thank you for commenting on her tale. I thought it was very good.

Rachel, it's just fun stuff and I like the fun.Charles Gramlichhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02052592247572253641noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28221839.post-3600166969453566612011-05-28T14:13:22.587-05:002011-05-28T14:13:22.587-05:00I love space opera. Your comment about STAR TREK says a lot about why we read pop fiction. It applies equally to westerns when westerns are about how a man behaves with courage in certain high-stress situations. I'd argue that this is how males in our culture learn important character traits. Han Solo portrays a complexity of them that is far more instructive (and easily digestible) than a moral treatise on the same subject.Ron Scheerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15357501069513854664noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28221839.post-3320945367482060102011-05-28T00:05:10.567-05:002011-05-28T00:05:10.567-05:00Laughingwolf, indeed.Laughingwolf, indeed.Charles Gramlichhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02052592247572253641noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28221839.post-2212361391833514912011-05-27T11:49:52.958-05:002011-05-27T11:49:52.958-05:00figgered y'd get me drift, pard ;)figgered y'd get me drift, pard ;)laughingwolfhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08873675614347328116noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28221839.post-86080343197336045612011-05-27T11:39:28.999-05:002011-05-27T11:39:28.999-05:00Bernardl, so far the Taleran books have been the m...Bernardl, so far the Taleran books have been the most fun, but I'm enjoying "under the ember star" quite a lot.Charles Gramlichhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02052592247572253641noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28221839.post-57534276801817327842011-05-27T10:38:10.631-05:002011-05-27T10:38:10.631-05:00Nice ride.
